Military spouses join USO West Point and Fort Hamilton as we adventure into New York City for our June USO Coffee Connection! An itinerary of the day is below. Please note that this is subject to change: We will meet at the Croton Harmon Train Station by 9:30 AM and take the 9:52 AM Metro North train to Grand Central. We highly recommend carpooling as parking is not free (around $10 for the day). Please anticipate a one-hour train ride into the city.
Upon arrival to Grand Central Terminal, we will make our way to 42nd St & 8th Ave to take the A/C/E Subway downtown to the 14th street and then walk a few blocks to meet the Ft Hamilton group. USO will cover the commute costs.
We will be enjoying a private tour of the Highline park, which starts at 11:30/45AM. “The High Line may be about two stories high—but it’s hundreds of stories deep.” We will meet our guide at the south end of the Highline and walk our way north. The tour is approximately 90 minutes and lets us out near Hudson Yards.
Once at Hudson yards attendees will have approximately an hour to enjoy the shops, get a bite and enjoy the area.
When done everyone will enjoy a brisk walk back to Grand Central Terminal to catch a train back to Croton Harmon train station.
With such a busy day, we want to make sure you have what you need: Be ready to walk! Wear comfortable shoes. Sneakers are highly recommended! Keep an eye on the weather and dress comfortably! Bring a small bag that you can carry your personal belongings.
